A birth chart, also called a natal chart, maps the apparent positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets at one moment. The zodiac sign describes each body's position along the ecliptic, while an exact birth time and place allow the chart to include the Ascendant, Midheaven, and astrological houses.

Why Your Exact Birth Time Changes the Rising Sign and Houses
The Ascendant is the zodiac degree rising on the eastern horizon. Because Earth turns continuously, the rising sign usually changes about every two hours, and even a small time difference can move the Ascendant degree or place a planet in another house.
If you do not know your birth time, select the unknown-time option. The calculator uses local noon to estimate planetary signs but deliberately omits the Rising sign, Midheaven, and houses. The Moon can also change signs during a day, so an unknown-time Moon placement should be treated as provisional.

Major aspects compare the angular separation between two planets. Conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions are listed when they fall within the calculator's stated orbs. The smaller the orb, the closer the measured separation is to the aspect's exact angle.

Can I calculate a birth chart without knowing my birth time?
Yes. Select 'I do not know my birth time.' The calculator uses local noon for planet positions and omits the Rising sign, Midheaven, and houses. The Moon sign may be uncertain if it changed that day.
Which zodiac and house systems does this calculator use?
It uses the Western tropical zodiac and Whole Sign houses. In Whole Sign houses, the Ascendant's entire zodiac sign becomes the first house, and the following signs become houses two through twelve.
How is my Rising sign calculated?
The calculator converts the birth moment to UTC, finds local sidereal time from the birth longitude, and determines which tropical-zodiac degree was crossing the eastern horizon at the birth latitude.
Why can another birth chart website show a different result?
Differences commonly come from an incorrect daylight-saving offset, rounded birth coordinates, a different zodiac system, or a different house system. Compare all four settings before assuming one calculation is wrong.
What does retrograde mean in the planet table?
Retrograde means the planet's geocentric zodiac longitude was decreasing at that moment, creating an apparent backward motion as viewed from Earth. The Sun and Moon are not labeled retrograde.
